Juneteenth in Kentucky

"But, if this part of our history could be told in such a way that those chains of the past, those shackles that physically bound us together against our wills could, in the telling, become spiritual links that willingly bind us together now and into the future…” Tom Feelings

Remembering Derby On The Eve of Preakness

Admittedly it’s nice to see the city flourishing around this time of year. In a small way, It does make me proud…Amongst the deadlock in west Louisville, Derby is THRIVING elsewhere in the city. The completion of the buildup of most of downtown Louisville has been completed, The Yum, the Convention Center, The Omni hotel, a SLEW of new restaurants, other hotels, bars, etc. And in the east ends of Louisville are the same build-ups, just on a smaller scale.

Porch Kitchen and Bar

It was honestly one of the best brunches in the city I have ever had. From the atmosphere to the service, and most importantly the food. I will be returning this spring or summer to try and to review dinner and will probably make it a night out so I can partake in some of those bar drinks.

I Love My City!

Flavour Restaurant and Lounge is located at 1767 Bardstown Rd (40205 zip). It is in the heart of the Highlands next to a long time staple Better Days records. The offered cuisine is traditional Caribbean, Southern and Creole inspired dishes with of course our own Louisville flair. I met up with a friend for a night out that I only anticipated to be a couple of drinks and an appetizer (or two, or three).

A Taste of Spain

I recruited 2 friends to join me for an early Sunday afternoon lunch; For company and to steal food from their plates. We all have similar pallets so for us to agree to each order different tapas were a feat. However, we were able to come to the agreement to try something different and were not disappointed in our culinary adventure.
